Meet Dr. Karina Furlan: Aesthetic Physician and Dermatology Expert

Dr. Karina Colossi Furlan is a board-certified aesthetic physician at Zi Med Spa with over 15 years of experience in dermatology, skin health, and minimally invasive cosmetic care. She brings a rare depth of expertise to every patient encounter, combining a strong clinical background in dermatology with advanced training in pathology at some of the most prestigious institutions in the world.

Dr. Furlan completed her medical degree and dermatology training in Brazil, where she practiced clinical, surgical, and cosmetic dermatology for several years at some of the country’s largest clinics. After moving to the United States, she completed a pathology residency focused on dermatopathology at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago. She then pursued advanced fellowships in Oncologic Surgical Pathology at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and Moffitt Cancer Center. She has also completed dermatology fellowship training at The Ohio State University and Northwestern University.

She is board-certified in Anatomic Pathology by the American Board of Pathology and holds certification from the Brazilian Board of Dermatology. Dr. Furlan is licensed to practice medicine in Florida, California, and New York.

Her expertise spans neuromodulators such as Botox®, Dysport®, and Daxxify®, dermal fillers, biostimulators including Sculptra® and Radiesse®, laser and light-based treatments, microneedling, chemical peels, hair restoration, and medical dermatology. She also specializes in the treatment of melasma, pigmentation disorders, and skin lesion evaluation and removal.

What sets Dr. Furlan apart is her understanding of skin at both the surface and cellular level. This scientific foundation allows her to design highly personalized treatment plans that prioritize safety, long-term skin health, and natural-looking results. Her treatment philosophy is simple: enhance, not change. She believes in preserving each patient’s unique features while helping them look refreshed, balanced, and like the best version of themselves.
